A Model-driven QoS mapping tool for QoS-enabled Component Middleware
نویسندگان
چکیده
Although component middleware technologies have raised the level of abstraction by separating configuration mechanisms from the core business logic, application developers still have to map their application QoS policies/requirements onto these mechanisms effectively in order to correctly configure the underlying middleware. In this poster we describe Quality of service pICKER (QUICKER), a model-driven QoS mapping toolchain for component middleware. QUICKER automates the mapping of QoS requirements onto middlewarespecific QoS configuration options by (1) choosing appropriate subset of QoS options for given QoS policies and (2) assigning values to each of these selected QoS options. QUICKER also provides support for validating the generated QoS configurations and resolving any dependencies between them.

Title: Evaluating Real-time Publish/subscribe Service Integra- Tion Approaches in Qos-enabled Component Middleware Evaluating Real-time Publish/subscribe Service Integration Approaches in Qos-enabled Component Middleware *
As quality of service (QoS)-enabled component middleware technologies gain widespread acceptance to build distributed real-time and embedded (DRE) systems, it becomes necessary for these technologies to support real-time publish/subscribe services, which is a key requirement of a large class of DRE systems. To date there have been very limited systematic studies evaluating different approaches ...

Though component-based software development is widely accepted in the enterprise business and desktop application domains, developers of distributed real-time and embedded (DRE) systems have encountered limitations with conventional component middleware platforms, such as the CORBA Component Model (CCM) and the Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE). These limitations often preclude developers of DRE...
متن کاملModel Driven Middleware: A New Paradigm for Developing and Provisioning Distributed Real-time and Embedded Applications ?
Distributed real-time and embedded (DRE) applications have become critical in domains such as avionics (e.g., flight mission computers), telecommunications (e.g., wireless phone services), tele-medicine (e.g., robotic surgery), and defense applications (e.g., total ship computing environments). DRE applications are increasingly composed of multiple systems that are interconnected via wireless a...
متن کاملAutomated Techniques for Mapping Domain-level QoS Requirements to Middleware-specific QoS Configurations∗
Contemporary middleware platforms provide a high degree of flexibility and configurability to support a large class of distributed systems found in a variety of domains, such as avionics, automotive, financials, healthcare and defense. Realizing the quality of service (QoS) properties of these systems requires mapping the domain-specific QoS requirements of these systems to the right set of con...
متن کاملModel-driven development of QoS-enabled distributed applications
The term Quality of Service (QoS) describes how well an application or service performs. Hence, QoS can describe properties such as response time, availability, the level of encryption, throughput etc. QoS is important for multi-media (i.e. video and audio applications) as well as for enterprise applications. The presented work focuses on QoS-aware enterprise applications. Enterprise applicatio...
